SuperHalfs: 126 km, 6 cities, an unforgettable European adventure
Running 21.0975 km is already quite an achievement, but completing 6 half-marathons in 5 years is the SuperHalfs challenge. So, what exactly is it?
You might have heard of the World Marathon Majors, the six most prominent marathons in the world: Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York, and Tokyo. There is a similar series for half-marathons: the SuperHalfs.
| The History of SuperHalfs
The SuperHalfs is an international series of six prestigious half-marathons in Europe, launched in 2022. The aim? To encourage runners from around the world to combine travel and running by participating in the continent’s most beautiful 21.1 km races.
The series initially included five races, known as SH5:
● Lisbon (EDP Lisbon Half Marathon)
● Prague (Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon)
● Copenhagen (Copenhagen Half Marathon)
● Cardiff (Cardiff Half Marathon)
● Valencia (Valencia Half Marathon)
| The Series Concept
In 2024, Berlin joined the series, making it the SH6.
The concept: Participants have up to 5 years to complete all six races and earn their SuperMedal. Each completed race earns a virtual stamp in a digital passport, encouraging runners to explore these major European cities while taking on a sporting challenge. It’s ideal for those seeking to combine their love of running with travel experiences.
What makes SuperHalfs stand out: A selection based not only on the event’s prestige and size but also on the quality of organization and CSR commitments (sustainability, inclusion, etc.). An experience that blends sports, tourism, and personal growth.
| The Series Details
To participate in the SuperHalfs series, the best approach is to register directly on the official website of each race. This initial registration activates the “SuperHalfs Passport”, a digital document that accompanies you throughout the challenge.
How does it work?
- Once registered for your first half-marathon, your passport is created.
- With each new race, simply use your identification number to log your results and collect virtual stamps—proof that you crossed the finish line.
- The series officially starts as soon as you complete your first race.
No specific order required! It doesn’t matter which city you start in or the order in which you complete the half-marathons. The goal is simple: complete all 6 races within 5 years to claim the much-coveted SuperMedal. For example, if you start in Cardiff in 2024, you have until Cardiff 2029 to finish the other five races.
And if the race is full?
No worries! If the entries are sold out, there are alternative ways to participate:
- Through a charity (some reserve entries for fundraising purposes).
- Via a specialized travel agency.
If you still can’t secure an entry, you’ll need to wait for the next edition.
