Since its inception in 1980, this event has established itself as one of the most significant sporting gatherings in Scandinavia and Europe. It welcomes both seasoned and novice marathoners on a highly accessible course.

The course, which winds through the city’s picturesque streets, provides participants with a unique perspective of Copenhagen. An emblem of the city, participants have the chance to pass by it twice. Each kilometer offers another opportunity to admire the city’s history and architecture, thanks to iconic landmarks along the way: Nyhavn, Christiansborg Palace, and the Queen Louise Bridge, all while feeling the vibrant energy of the Vesterbro district. Despite a few twists and turns, the route remains relatively flat, earning its reputation as a fast marathon. Danes are deeply committed to this cause in their daily lives and are aware of the environmental impact of such an event. Organizers encourage participants to use public transportation and minimize waste throughout the event. This approach reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to promote a sustainable future, even during large gatherings.Even with these few rules to follow, the event is always marked by a festive atmosphere.
