Loire Marathon

Running the Loire Marathon is more than just a sporting challenge. It’s a journey through Anjou, alongside the twists and turns of Europe’s last wild river, and a chance to immerse yourself in a region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, performance meets wonder, amidst rolling vineyards, Renaissance castles, and troglodyte villages.

In Saumur, runners can choose between 42.195 km of pure delight, a dynamic half-marathon, or a unique event: the canoe-race combination, where participants paddle on the Loire before hitting the ground to finish the race. It’s a full immersion in the Loire Valley, where every kilometer reveals postcard-perfect scenery.

But beyond the course, the entire region comes alive. On the quays of Saumur, along the paths bordering the Loire, and even in the cobblestone streets of the historic center, spectators, musicians, and volunteers create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you’re here to push your limits or simply to enjoy the moment, the Loire Marathon offers an unforgettable experience where sport, nature, and history intertwine, making every step a genuine exploration.
