Miles Of Discovery: Dorian Louvet and his exceptional challenge of the 7 Marathon Majors in one year.
In 2025, renowned running influencer and highly skilled amateur runner Dorian Louvet embarks on an exceptional journey: to run the seven World Marathon Majors in one year. This is a monumental physical, mental, and logistical challenge, which he shares with great passion and ambition.
| Running the Majors: a dream for every marathoner
Dorian Louvet is far from an unknown in the running world in France. A seasoned amateur runner with impressive road records, a coach, and even a finalist on the show Koh Lanta (French survival TV show) , he honed his skills on the track before taking on long distances and trail running. His latest marathon record? 2h20’39. But this time, his goal goes beyond mere performance: with Miles Of Discovery, he aims to combine personal achievement, cultural discovery, and inspiration.
“As a marathon enthusiast, the World Marathon Majors are a dream for every athlete,” says Dorian Louvet. “I always told myself that if the opportunity arose, I would run these marathons to also earn my World Majors finisher medal. The privilege I have now is being able to tell stories through running. And for earning that medal, perhaps I could narrate a beautiful story by completing all seven in the same year. This idea was born from my desire to inspire people through sport. Every city, every race has its own soul and unique story. I want to experience them intensely and share them with everyone who follows me.”
The native of Caen (France) doesn’t hide his preferences and already dreams of hitting American soil. “Two marathons in particular captivate me: New York and Boston. In terms of atmosphere, New York will be incredible. For me, it’s the biggest marathon in the world, the ultimate goal for any marathoner. And Boston, with its history, is truly a unique marathon. It’s a marathoner’s pinnacle, especially with the events that have occurred there, like the Boston Marathon bombing. It’s one of the most historic races in the world.”
The challenge is immense. His 2025 will be marked by seven marathons:
- Tokyo – March 2
- Boston – April 21
- Londres – April 27
- Sydney – August 31
- Berlin – September 21
- Chicago – October 12
- New York – November 2
A whirlwind schedule that will push both his body and mind to the limit. But the runner, sponsored by ASICS, is well-supported and intends to use every possible advantage to reach his goal.
| A challenge tailored for adventure and performance
“This will require a lot of adaptability throughout the year because the goal is also to avoid injuries. Completing seven marathons in a year isn’t something everyone can do. Sure, with my training, if I were to run seven marathons casually, it wouldn’t be a challenge,” smiles Dorian Louvet. His goal is clear: to run each marathon as fast as possible, aiming to lower his personal record below 2h20 starting in Tokyo. “The aim of this challenge is to run all seven as quickly as possible, adding a performance aspect. For the first one in Tokyo, I want to compete at the pace of my personal record (2h20’39), and ideally under 2h20.”
But tackling these races in such a short span demands meticulous, specific preparation. Between recovery, effort management, and adaptation, Dorian Louvet knows he must listen to his body. “The unknown is part of the adventure. Running Boston and London just six days apart will be a tough challenge. A race strategy will be in place, possibly preserving some energy for London. But I don’t know how my body will react. Maybe I’ll hit a wall, or maybe I’ll be fine. The beauty of this project is also not knowing how it will end. But what’s certain is that I’ll give it my all.”
Running Boston and London back-to-back is a serious challenge. Monday’s schedule features the Boston Marathon, known for its famous Newton Hills, four challenging inclines that make it the toughest of the Majors. And to end the week, there’s the London Marathon on Sunday. Hardly any time to catch his breath between the two. In this adventure, he has assembled a top-notch team: a coach, physiotherapist, mental coach, and videographers. Dorian Louvet leaves nothing to chance, hoping to be at his peak for perhaps the greatest sporting project of his career.
| An adventure above all
Beyond the athletic challenge, Miles Of Discovery is a human and inspiring adventure. Through his races, Dorian Louvet wants to tell stories, introduce cultures, and encourage everyone to push their limits.
“With my YouTube videos and social media, I try to raise awareness about running. I believe sports can be a powerful social tool that can help you break free from a challenging environment. Sometimes, all it takes is getting up, starting somewhere, and moving forward step by step, and eventually, you too can experience these unique emotions. No matter the level, achieving a goal brings the same pride. My message is that everyone can do it, step by step. I want people to understand that behind every great success, there are hours of training, doubt, sacrifices, but also immense satisfaction at the finish.”
With Running Academy, Dorian Louvet already supports hundreds of runners towards their own challenges. His project is also a way to unite and share his love of running, conveying his experiences on social media and through immersive documentaries on YouTube.
“The idea of running them all in a single year was born from my desire to inspire people with sport. Every city, every race has its own soul and unique narrative. I want to fully experience them, feel every atmosphere, and share those experiences with everyone who follows me.”
| A controversial challenge, an unwavering determination
This ambitious challenge has sparked questions from some who highlight the carbon footprint linked to his travels. Dorian Louvet doesn’t shy away from the issue.
“I understand ecological concerns and think it’s crucial to discuss the carbon footprint in today’s world. My primary objective is to share a passion, not to encourage everyone to travel excessively. Today, environmental challenges are significant, and I’m aware of what this project entails. That’s why I plan to optimize my travels to minimize impact, by scheduling back-to-back marathons without returning to France and choosing trains when feasible. We want to avoid unnecessary round trips. For example, I’ll stay in the US for three weeks between the Chicago and New York marathons, and we’ll go to Berlin by train. I understand it might upset some people, but I’m not urging everyone to fly every day. Through Miles of Discovery, I want to tell a human adventure, something that drives motivation, emotion, and unity through sport.”
In the face of criticism, he stays focused on what drives him: running, sharing, and inspiring.
| Onward to 2025: a marathon of challenges
Dorian Louvet is preparing for an extraordinary year. Seven marathons, seven cities, seven stories to tell. With Miles Of Discovery, he’s not just running: he’s bringing the entire running community into his dream. “This project is a beautiful story. I hope it will evoke emotions and inspire people to take up running.”
